Mentor Artist Evan Bissell
Become a YIA Mentor Artist
YIA Mentor Artists work on a contract basis as needed by individual schools throughout the academic school year. YIA pays Mentor Artists $25-$45 per instructional session, plus 20% prep and planning time. Supply budgets are allocated based on project and number of students served. Potential YIA Mentor Artists must complete the following Artist Information form with all required attachments. Some prerequisites are classroom teaching experience, capacity for lesson planning, classroom management skills, age- and development-appropriateness of projects, links to academic curricula, and a familiarity with the California State Visual & Performing Arts Standards. Attaching curricula and photographs of student and/or artist creations will aid us in learning more about your work.
After submitting the required materials, we may contact you for an interview, and possibly a class observation, to determine if you are eligible for our roster. In addition, we often require an audition or presentation in your area of expertise. It is critical that Mentor Artists be both high quality artists and experienced educators.
