Youth in Arts is proud to introduce the first annual Kids Imagine Our World Exhibit at our 917 C Street Gallery. This exhibition is a collection of works by students from kindergarten through eighth grade. The artworks are their responses to the prompt, “I imagine a world with…” The artists thought about what they want to BE, what they want to SEE, and WHO will be with them. Whether they imagine new kinds of animals or traveling the world, this was an opportunity for them to critically and creatively imagine their world’s potential. Come see how they visualized and executed their ideas!
In conjunction with this kid-focused show, we have set up our very own ode to Yayoi Kusama’s Obliteration Room. Our kid-size version invites our gallery visitors to add their own dots to the white walls and furniture. Adding dots to this interactive room blurs the foreground and background, walls and objects, and creates a space where depth and contrast are completely altered. This interactive art instillation requires participation so please come add your own dots today!
During Litquake in the fall of 2016, Youth in Arts C Street Project, an intensive arts mentorship program for teens, offered students the chance to reimagine their world as part of a comic book project. As the final step in our interactive exhibition, we ask you to imagine YOUR world. What world would you like to create? Come draw a miniature version of a world you would want to see and add your bubble world to ours!
