Come to Youth in Arts the evening of Friday, September 12, for a special celebration as part of National Arts in Education Week and 2nd Fridays Art Walk Downtown. We’ll be opening a new exhibit “Listen to What We Say” featuring work from youth in our summer Leadership Development Program inspired by Isabel Allende’s quote: “I tend to see the similarities in people, and not the differences.”
As part of the “Creative San Rafael” project, Youth in Arts and community partners are working with artists of all ages throughout the year to create public art inspired by quotes from prominent artists, like Allende, with links to San Rafael.
Our September 12 celebration will include a live band performance from one of our Leadership students and a hands-on art activity for all ages, creating a collaborative image for a future “Creative San Rafael” banner project. The event is held in conjunction with National Arts in Education Week (designated by the U.S. Congress as the second week of September) and is a featured event in Creative Impact’s Bay Area National Arts in Education Week celebration.
“Creative San Rafael” is supported by funding from the California Arts Council “Creative California Communities” program, Marin Community Foundation and the City of San Rafael.
