Performance: On the Stage & in the Classroom – The New Kid in School (Hip Hop Theater)

Artist: Alphabet Rockers

Type: Performance: On the Stage & in the Classroom

Description

Professional Performance and accompanying classroom workshops. This bullying prevention assembly explores how teasing and being left out makes people feel, and how friends can stand up for themselves and each other. The goals are for the audience to connect to empathy, social problem solving, and assertiveness (three proven characteristics that prevent being bullied or becoming a bully) - all through the medium of hip-hop, theater, and music. The show includes three stories with three different perspectives on bullying. In each story, the Alphabet Rockers "freeze" the situation to reflect with the audience, using the critical thinking skills of the students to resolve the conflicts onstage. Students will also create alongside with the performers in the arts of beatboxing, dance, and song. Paired with award-winning music the show is the perfect curricular compliment to schools dedicated to having safe, peaceful communities.
