Residency: Afro-Peruvian Dance

Description

Afro-Peruvian music and dance is a unique blend of African, Spanish, and Indigenous elements.  During the residencies, students will be introduced to traditional dance forms within Afro-Peruvian culture and learn dances such as the Festejo, Zamacueca, and Son De Los Diablos.  Through dance, students will be made aware of the historical and cultural perspective of the dances, as well as be introduced to the instruments in Afro-Peruvian culture.

Audience Limit: 35 per classroom

Program Length: Minimum 8 sessions in each 2 classrooms.
