Residency: Chinese Brush Painting

Artist: Multiple Artists

Type: Residencies

Description

Students explore the ancient culture of Chinese brush painting that started over 5000 years ago and continues into the contemporary period. Students learn about the culture background, ink, brush, paper, writing, strokes, objects, landscape painting, composition, and space. The learning process is a symbolic expression more than a representation of an object. It’s a meditation of mind and heart becoming part of nature. Students can also learn to create their own personal chop (or seal) to "sign" their works.
