Students will explore the lives behind the statistics of the Holocaust. They will learn about life before, during and after the Holocaust. They will create found poems from biographies of Holocaust Victims and turn those found poems into songs. This is a powerful process that allows students to reflect and connect to history in a very personal way. It is a way to continue to give voice to those that no longer have one. It will culminate in a performance of the songs created and students sharing what this process taught them. A similar workshop can be done for other topics given collaboration with teacher and artist and availability of primary resources, quotes, or biographies.
