Residency: Mixed Media Unleashed

Artist: Multiple Artists

Type: Residencies, Students with Special Needs

Description

In a relaxed, playful environment, students develop technique in various media through non-traditional and traditional means. Media could include designs and textures using tools like scrapers or pipettes on gesso, gel medium or spackle; and a range of "paints" or dyes on different surfaces, abstract painting, handmade stamps and graphic design. Students will learn new skills and creatively express themselves as they work in a variety of forms including: painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and mixed media. Students will explore art fundamentals such as line, shape, color and texture. The theme of the course can be aligned with academic curriculum (i.e. an ocean theme could include creating animals of the sea, painting seascapes, making sponge prints and creating a 3-D ocean diorama). *This residency can also be adapted for special education and alternative education programs, as part of Arts Unite Us.
